Adium 1.5 nightly builds compared to Adium 1.4 beta

Post by YtseJam »

Question:

How synced are the v1.4 beta releases compared to the v1.5 nightly releases?
Meaning,
- if I choose to use a nightly build - do I lose any current functionality?
- are commits made for 1.4 also being commited to 1.5?

Obvious answer: 1.5 will be the later and greater release. =-)

For the nitty-gritty check out 1.5's current changelog: http://hg.adium.im/adium/file/c40e6f589 ... hanges.txt.

Thanks. Moved to 1.5 nightly.

Any particular reason why Adium is close to 90MB? :) (even complex modern browsers are ±20MB...)
Not that I'm complaining...

1.5 currently carries the baggage of audio/video support dependencies. Since it won't be ready for the release of 1.5 I would reckon it will be removed in time.

Apart from that, I'd argue Adium might be a good deal more complex in functionality than a browser but others - programmers - would probably be more able to tell.

Okay, good to know about the dependencies.
I suggest making the audio and video components pluggable downloads so that even once the support is integrated, it wouldn't impact the file size.

Maybe I should go back to report RTL problems with Adium (mainly the conversation log I think is left).

Yes, I think that might be a good idea.

You already did: http://trac.adium.im/ticket/11704. =-)

Is there a place to talk about 1.5-specific issues? (for example, if no Adium window is open (preferences, chat, ...) clicking on the Dock icon does not change spaces to the one where the Adium contact list is at)).

I hope the next major release of Adium have a revamp UI, or at least changes like the iDium mod.

1.5 will have some UI changes, 1.6 will have some bigger ones though.

Hopefully. ;) The current ones in 1.5 are quite nice though.
