Can't connect to Facebook

Hi,

I'm running Adium 1.4.3 on Mac OSX 10.5.8.
Since the most recent FB update, I have been unable to connect to my facebook account through Adium. Please advise.

Quit Adium and then in the web browser of your choice make sure you Log Off your fb account. Don't just close the window. Then sign in again. The next time you run Adium it should work.

I've logged out of FB on all devices. I'm running Adium 1.4.3 and OS X 10.7.2. I've tried a dozen times to connect to FB and all I get is 'Promoting authorization for chat...'. If I close this window, I just keep getting the Facebook login page. Any suggestions?

I'm having the same exact problem.. running OS 10.7.1 and Adium 1.4.3 tried zilion times... freezes on the Promoting authorization for chat

The same problem here,

I reinstalled Lion and updated to 10.7.2 and 'installed' adium again, and now I can't connect to facebook.
When I delete adium from facebook and I add adium again when I log in through adium on facebook.
It won't connect to the fbchat, just the fb screen and when I log in just seeing a spinning wheel
and the screen disappears but no facebook chat... when I hit the 'connect' button again... I have to log-in again
but no chat, and no connection....

I too am experiencing the same problem as those who've posted before me.

I have tried EVERYTHING (that I can think of)
I have installed, reinstalled. Log'd in & out.

I even deleted the app permissions inside facebookm and re-added the Facebook Adium app, to no avail.

I'm having the same issue as well.

Had to reinstall Lion today and updated to 10.7.2, installed Adium, and now I can't connect to Facebook chat or install xtras.

Same behaviour here. Sequence of events:

1) I had to change my FB password while at my studio on a non-OSX desktop.
2) Upon returning home and logging on my OSX machine, I turned on Adium and updated my FB account.
3) I kept receiving the normal Facebook prompts about granting Adium permission to use FB. Going directly into account settings, the conection process was hanging at the "Promoting. . ." part.
4) I re-changed my FB password back to the original (thinking maybe some local setting or credential was "stuck" with the original info). It did not fix anything.
5) I switched computers to my OSX 10.7.1, Adium 1.4.5 MacBook and it behaved the same way. Same deal with a 10.7.2 Mac Pro. A Win 7 machine and an XP machine both running Digsby worked as expected.
6) I'm stuck using Trillian on my Mac, and it works as expected (but it's still Trillian and I'm going to need to wipe down with steel wool and bleach once Adium is healthy again).

EDIT: I think Facebook's recent batch of changes must have changed something with how logins are handled, and the way some applications log in may no longer be kosher. While tinkering around with some mobile apps, some of them re-hooked up with FB fine while others would not connect or repeatedly throw prompts up. At the very least, it's at least not just an Adium problem.

Ah okay, the updater say there is no update, but just found Adium_1.5b1r4258.dmg (my version is 1.5hgr4231).

Mh, 1.5b1r4258 not work for me. Adium crashed if i create the facebook account/try to connect to facebook.

See the Crashlog and this Video what happend, if you try to connect.
