[1.4.3] Cannot receive message from a MSN contact

Hi everybody,
yesterday I added a new contact to my list, we both are using the MSN protocol to chat but I can only see him typing while I do not see any of his messages. I'm on Snow Leopard running Adium 1.4.3.
I've experienced, in the recent times also (the presumably known http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/14302 ?) bug of not receiving or sending offline messages. Can this be related to that too?
Is there a way I can dig deeper into this issue?
Any help will be highly appreciated

I solved this issue thanks to the advice from the IRC chat of Adium: in these cases it is useful to remove and re add the contact using the official MSN client
