Adium 1.5: Display Name in Dock Icon

Hello-- I have loved Adium for a long time now, but the update for 1.5 caused a cosmetic change that I'm not that happy with. I have "Display Name in Dock Icon" selected under events when I receive a message. Since I updated to 1.5, the name is now entirely unreadable:

The text used to be white and at the top of the Duck. I understand that the message counter was moved to the top right of the Duck to correspond to Lion, but I am using Snow Leopard.

I have some questions:

Is the name badge text controlled by the Dock Icon?
If so, does anyone know of a Dock Icon that would have clearer name text in the icon?
If not, is there a way to customize the way the text appears in the Dock Icon?

I'm so used to looking over at the dock to see who messaged me that this change is visually striking, and I'd like to get it back to the way it was. I would appreciate any suggestions!

I can see how that is useless, yeah, heh.

I believe the following setting is also used for the dock icon:
Preferences - Colour Theme - Customise... - Events - Unviewed Content.

Below is a screenshot of the setting. As you can see there I have set the text to be white and the background to be blue.
