Adum "subgroups" bother me

I actually am using Adium @ work,
since the 1.5 Update Adium regrouped my contacts tome something like subcontacts, however I really don't know how to explain it with other words, also because this behavior is really a little bit strange...

so, in the contact list i have a group of online contacts, but after hovering with my mouse cursor over one of these contacts there appears a message field which displays a "group" of contacts which seem to be collected under this contact.

after double-clicking on this contact a message-window appears with a pulldown-menu on the top where i can chose one of these subcontracts. After having chosen it i write with that person. the window title however has the name of the contact in the contact list where i double-clicked on before (and which sort of "sub grouped" the list of contacts) and, unfortunately the contact-icon also differs from the contact i am writing to.

so, to have it all summed up, i have message windows in which the window title is differing from the person i am writing to and also differing from the persons icon/photo.

and, just to tell you before you ask me:

- i already put off the options "show groups"

- i already deleted all adium preferences and the whole application-support content of adium

I don't wanna use iChat ;)

Those are metacontacts. You are supposed to use metacontacts for when of your contacts has multiple IM accounts, so you don't have to think about writing to him/her on a specific account, since Adium always chooses an online one for you. Hold down the command button, and drag the individuals away from the metacontact.

When you turned off groups, you turned off contact list groups which is something different.

Edit: Read more here.

dragging and dropping metacontacts out of t heir "subgroup" doesn't work, neither by dropping them in the same or in another group. Using the command key doesn't help either.

yeahy, i solved it. i found the solution in the adium settings -> advanced -> addressbook. There i solved the connection between adium and the adressbook and disabled the metacontacts which appeared that way. that really sucked!
