Contact list problems

I'm new to these forums so excuse me if I'm posting this in the wrong place...
I have a rather frustrating problem, but maybe I'm just being stupid. I recently made a new AIM screen name and copied over all the contacts I wanted to move. I have a bunch of diffrent groups for all my buddies.
Heres the problem, Adium has decided to put a bunch of my contacts in a group I don't use and will NOT let me move them.
I've tried dragging them to their correct groups. I get a message saying that adium couldn't move them (though they appear to be in the correct group at the time). When I reconnect to my account, my buddies are back in the wrong group.
I've tried manuly re-typing in their names in the correct group. Again, they appear in the right group untill I reconnect adium.
I've tried deleting the random group all together, to no avail. It just re-appears when I reconnect.
I've checked AIM and ichat, both show all my contacts in their correct groups. So there is no problem there
I'm on V .77
Any ideas on what could be happening? and, more imporantly, any way to fix this??
Any help would be apprecated. Thanks.
