"MSN Error: Friendly name changes too rapidly" Wha

Post by 1985 »

Been away for a while and came back to see 5 of these "MSN Error: Friendly name changes too rapidly"

What causes that error?
It's not a bug. It's an undocumented feature.

That is not helpful :P

Do you have your display name automatically changing somehow, say with an iTunes track script?
The duck still burns.

No. My display name is "Grrr! %_statusmessage". When I left my Mac I set my status to away, my display name changed to "Grrr! (Ute på äventyr)", no error.

Hm. Because of how the auto-updating system works, %_statusMessage is going to refresh your name every 30 seconds [since you could change it at any point]. I wasn't aware MSN had limits on how fast you could change your name. Does it happen every time?

No this was the first and so far only time. I had the away message up for for about 2 hours and I usually has it up between 1-6 hours. I had the iTunes track script before but never got this message.
