Cannot view bold text

I brought this up in the beta thread a while ago, but the forum is gone so I cannot bump it up, and I'm still having a problem with it in the official release.
Basically, any text (in my profile, status messages, or in IMs) that I make bold doesn't show up as bold for me. For instance, I can go edit my profile and select text and make it bold and it looks fine, but if I get info on myself it is no longer bold.
I've asked people and they said that they can view it, but I can't. I realize its not the most important thing ever but I'd like to be able to see what everyone else does, at least.
This only started happening with the .8 betas, but since I seem to be the only one with this problem I get the feeling I may be doing something wrong.
