mehve wrote:One thing I miss from .77 is the reformat incoming messages feature in the advanced section of the preferences. Its new incarnation just doesn't cut it: if the person-I'm-talking-to's font is bolded it won't de-bold it. Really annoying. Well, kind of annoying.
This is done because when someone wants to
emphasize something, it will get over-written. This is done quite on purpose.

I know it is still there when you have the away status window, but can we have the option available again without that window? We had it in 0.7x. I miss it quite a bit.

I italicize something when I want to emphasize it, not bold... Oh well... I just wish that it were still an option, because some of my contacts always talk in bold.

Andrman wrote:danielsh wrote:More than anything else, I miss "Set Idle". The "Appear Idle Immediately" function just doesn't work as well... it looks rather unconvincing to suddenly be idle for ten minutes, and I have to reset it every time I go away.
I agree. Setting a custom message isn't the same. I like to go on and off idle while having the same away message up.
That's a good point. The other thing that I miss about it is being able to see whether or not I'm idle. I tend to forget whether or not I set myself as idle; before, I could hit "File" and see what the menu item said, but now, I have to have myself on my own buddy list. When the dock icon is fixed, this won't be such a huge issue, but still... could we please have this (or something like it) back?
Edit:
Another thing: If I select a status message from the pull-down menu above my buddy list or in the "Status" menu, I can't arbitrarily decide whether I should be idle or not. I'm stuck with what I set when I first created the message. Usually, I don't mean for an idle status to be permanently associated with certain away messages---nor, I imagine, do most people.

what about being able to roll the pointer over the names and read away messages? a major procrastination tool that i miss with the new version...should definitely have that back.
that's my two cents. otherwise it's pretty awesome

That hasn't been removed. The devs would be lynched if they took that feature out.

I am a creature of habit, but I can live, and enjoy many of the changes to .81 since I upgraded from an early .7x (74 maybe?).
I will say, strictly visually, and because I don't use status, I prefer the old way of the away message.

Well use command + Y then. That was the way beforem and it still uses the same shortcut.

That is what I am talking about, I liked how the window looked before, and how the away message displayed before. I don't like having the option to set the status message, or the new look while the away message is up.
I figure I'm in the minority, so it doesn't really matter, but just thought I'd voice my opinion just to be another source of input.

Someone wrote a plaintext plugin that removes all formatting from incoming messages. I can't seem to find it right now, maybe whoever wrote it will speak up and provide the link.

Something stupid
But when upgrading from 0.7* to 0.8 to 0.81 everything
worked fine. (thnx)
Today I reinstalled mac osx on mu ibook, and installed 0.81.
Now i don't get the msn buddy icons of everybody
in the contact list.
(You know, the small icon popping up when hoovering above a nick name)
Can somebody explain me, where i can activate the retrieve
msn buddy icon? (avatar)
Even in some chats the icon does not appear.
Greetings

topic highjacking!
you are allowed to make new topics for unrelated questions ;-)
they must come online for a minute or two first!
Or check the advanced prefs, maybe you have something that only show addressbook icons?

Thought this was a topic about stuff that worked before
and now doesn't
A Well can a moderator trasfer this to a new topic?
(2 minute solution doesn't work, the advanced option still not fount)

yeah, they take a while, but sometimes don't even show up for me. which with them not showing on mouse over, plus with status changes not being shown in my msg windows, it's a big pain in the butt sometimes.

Plus it would take half an hour to separate a post at the end of 200. Make a new thread.
This thread has gotten pretty long, and I think all the points have been made. Is it ok to lock?

Could the developers give us some idea of what's going to change before the thread is locked?

Oh, and this thread is for .81. Seeing how .81 is out, it's time to lock.
