in .77, i had a message style i really liked, i believe it was the minimal green vs blue which has been changed in .8. the way i used to have it, the text was right next to the screenname (instead of below it) and the lines were not grouped together. is there any way i can get the old message view back?

another question, i dont know if its been addressed yet, but my dock icon doesnt have the little "away" sign on it when i go away, after the upgrade. thank you,

Same for me- I happened to have a screen shot of the old theme. I can't find it in the app or at the extras site.



I tried using Fiat which is nice but it seems to have one problem - if the person goes away, it doesn't show their new away message in the message window. Eclipse definitely does display it but I don't like that theme as much.

I had fallen in love with a few of the syles (message views and contact lists), and I was upset when they disappeared after I upgraded from .7 to .8, and they weren't available on the Xtras pages. Luckily, I keep a backup of my harddrive, and it still had the old version of Adium. I discovered that all the themes were located in the Resources folder of the app (Right-Click Adium.app > Show Package Contents > ./Contents/Resources/[Contact List,Dock Icons,Emoticons,Message Styles,Scripts,Sounds]/...). I copied the old ones from the backup to the same location in the new version, and as far as I can tell, they all still work just fine.

I believe the old versions are still available for download, so if you don't keep a backup and the styles you want were defaults, you can download an old version and pull out the styles you want.

To the developers: Why would you remove default themes if they still work? :( At least post them as classics or something on the Xtras page.

I really love the Simple message style, and the Standard (Small)/Aqua (Panther) contact list themes. The new ones seem awkward to me - I prefer things to be simple yet elegant, rather than flashy or stylish.

They will be. There are issues with them in 10.4 and 10.3.9 which are being worked out.

thanks everybody, found the old "simple" style from .77 that i liked. the only thing i don't like, is the forced combined message style of .8. could we have an option for this, like in some of the previous versions? everything else is rockin, love the file-transfer.

It is dependent on the message style, as some message styles would be designed for one certain way and look atrociously awful the other way.

Contact your message view author for a possible variation.
