Adium 0.8 lags :(

Hi I'm new to the forums but I've been using Adium for a while now. I just upgraded to the new version of Adium, but whenever I use it it lags like crazy. Every function lags, from clicking on the menus to typing in the input pane, to everything! I don't know how to fix it and I've shut down and restarted my computer and quit Adium and opened it again and done just about everything else I can imagine. My Internet doesn't lag, and I have DSL so I don't think it's my connection that's the problem.

Someone please help me! :(

Thanks!

I have the same problems. I get the spinning beachball trying to perform nearly ever function. Along with:

-spikes of cpu usage as high as 70%
-using 30MB of real memory *and* 160MB of virtual memory, which seems a tiny bit high to me

If I use any other cpu-intensive app at the same time, my entire system crawls to the point of being essentially crippled.

If you could, get a sample of Adium during these CPU usage spikes:

1) Open "Activity Monitor" in Applications/Utilities/
2) Select Adium in the list of processes and wait for it to misbehave
3) When it does, select "Sample Process" from the View menu.

On the resulting window, click save and send the resulting sample to us.

In my experience, the primary cause of performance issues are scripts placed in display names and profiles. These scripts are executed every 30 seconds and a poorly done script can stall until it times out and completely kill performance.

If you haven't already, give the troubleshooting tips at the top of this forum a try.

Upgrading to today's release (0.81) seems to have solved the problem... I am experiencing virtually no lag at all now, and then only when I'm asking Adium to do a lot of things at once, which is when lag is to be expected.
