Selectively format messages from a user in IRC?

Postby victorhooi » Tue Sep 30, 2014 11:06 pm

Hi,

We're using Adium to connect to Flowdock via IRC.

Is there any way to either selectively format messages coming from a specific user in a IRC channel?

I know you can "block" a user in Adium, which means you won't get messages from them either in individual chats or in groups/channels.

However, it'd be nice to be able to say, apply an italics, or a different colour (e.g. grey) to a specific user (or even pattern of messages). Is this something you can do in Adium?

Cheers,
Victor

It isn't hard, but it requires a custom message style and knowledge of HMTL and CSS. Basically, you add a username keyword to a classCSS in the message style HTML template, and then style as desired in the CSS file(s).
