Contact list picture problems

Me again, with another dumb question.

In both Adium .7 and now .8, there have been options to add a background image to your contact list (Prefrences/Appearance-Color theme), but nothing I try appears!!

The default icon does not show (eye), nor do any of my own files (i've tried multiple file formats as well). I've also tried pre-set contact list with icons included to no avail. I've tried messing around with the opacity to...nothing.

This seems like it's not an adium problem, but that I'm mearly missing something important.

I have OSX 10.4, though this problem existed on 10.3 aswell.

Any suggestions? I looked through these forums for about 2 hours, and found nothing.

Again, any help is appreciated!

okay the background picture for contact lists has to be used with regular window or borderless window
