I'm very excited to use this release, but whenever I type more than a couple of letters, adium crashes.

Arrrgh that sounds horrible.

Do you have many extras installed or logs you want to keep? If not do a search for Adium and trash anything that comes up, then re-download and that should solve it.

If you want to keep logs etc try dragging ~/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0/ to your desktop (where ~ is the name of your home directory) and relaunch adium. If adium then works the problem presumably lies within an extra somewhere, although I can't think what extra could really cause this..even a rubbishy message style.

Also, what is the email address on your crash reports?
