AIM Phoenix?

Post by Rockin' Kat »

Hi,

Is there likely to be any support for using the AIM support in Adium with AIM Phoenix?

It says to change the host url in the client to iwarg.ddns.net port: 5190 but this doesn't appear to be an option in Adium's AIM configuration as the only customizable item, Login Server, isn't the same thing as the host url so you just get an error repeatedly.

Code: Select all

Error: Received unexpected response from https://api.screenname.aol.com/auth/clientLogin
Don't ask me why... I really don't know why. I just randomly googled AIM and this was near the top. And now for no good reason I want to try to connect to it even though absolutely no one I know is on going to be on it.

Hoping for the same thing. Is there a config file somewhere we can manually tweak?

PS: I got it working using an old version of Adium:

I had a quick look at the website and it appears communication doesn't go through AIM's servers but through some other person's server. I'd recommend against using it, to be honest. There are plenty more ways to chat that would seem more reliable.

The website also recommends Alex Jones' InfoWars website. I find that troubling.

You could try an entry into /etc/hosts to trick it into sending traffic for api.screename to the IP of the new server

184.15.16.188 api.screenname.aol.com

Might get more complicated than that, but it's the first thing that comes to mind.
