Auto-scrolling not working after upgrade to Catalina

Running version 1.5.10.4 Adium on MacOs Catalina version 10.15.

Previously, in Chats when the list of text boxes was scrolled to the bottom, any additional messages, either typed by user or received from other users, was added to the bottom and the list was scrolled up to reveal it. After upgrading to Catalina yesterday, this autoscrolling behavior has stopped working. When user types a message and hits return, the new message is hidden. Likewise, messages from other users are not revealed by scrolling up. So one has to constantly manually scroll up to see the message thread.

Version 1.5.11b3 (11/03/216) exhibits the same behaviour.

Catalina is the initial public release 10.15, installed today

It did not exhibit the behaviour on Mojave

More detail:

After opening Adium for the first time there is a space, often, above the first messages. The new messages scroll until the top 'old' message hits the top of the window. Scrolling thereafter stops.

I've also noticed that the "other party is typing" indicator switches on when they are, but the "you have not read old messages" colour for unread messages seems no longer to work

I am also having this issue after updating to Catalina and it is driving me crazy. I keep missing important messages from my coworkers.

If there were a fix there would be a new release. There is not. I've pinged the forum moderator to take a look at the thread. Others might choose to do the same by PM

I'm a little worried that Adium might now be a "mature" product and at the end of its maintained life

I don't know of anyone who has been working on Adium in the last two years.

If someone were to make a code contribution to fix the issue, I could see about getting a new version released.

I had to find it in the options just now. It was quite a search. Default mode is for emails to be off. I made the error of thinking default might be 'on' Apologies again
