Growl Displays That Happen At The Wrong Time

Post by Gamerider »

For some really irritating reason, once I have set Adium to give me notifications when someone is away, or is idle, or is has come online, ect...(basically anything effected by a persons status), I get a status report about everyone when I log in. This is extremely bothersome and annoying. I want to be notified if someone comes online or goes away or whatever while Adium is in the background, but I don't need to be notified about everyone when I first log in...that's stupid, obviously certain people are going to be online or away or idle, and I don't need to be informed about all of them.

So yes, this bug should be fixed with something like "preform this exception except for when you first log-on"...because, otherwise, it's annoying...also, it takes up a lot of space on my screen (since I have an older computer with a 15" moniter).

My only other bone to pick is with the growl people about not letting me place my notice windows wherever I want in ANY style, but only in bezel, but that's not your issue I don't think...I just thought I'd mention it, just in case.

Really good job otherwise on .8!!!

this problem has been happening for some time in the 0.8 builds. i believe it is a side effect of the new status system. here's what happens:

when i open adium and my accounts (AIM) connect, the contact list properly shows available and away users. however, if i view the tooltip for the away users immediately after signing on i get the default "Away" status, since Adium has not yet retrieved the contact's custom away message from the server. however, as soon as Adium _does_ retrieve this message, it sends a "contact went away" trigger to Growl, and i get a string of bubbles running down my screen as people's away messages load.

the contact list is sensible enough to not freak out. the same needs to be applied to the code which triggers growl notifications.
