Why Dont we have a pane like this? Maybe we would have to write a adresses book plugin to add the more supported im types.

There is something like this. It's in advanced somewhere. Something about Address Book.

No, add from Address Book is what we don't have. We cannot take someone who is not on our buddy list but is in the Address Book and take that screen name from the Address Book and put it in our buddy list.

New Person simply lets you do in iChat what "add buddy" is in Adium.

Dude, no. You can't do the former manually, but automatically. Actually, not the screennames, but only the names… sorry.

The latter is not true. It makes a totally new entry in Address Book which in turn can be used for a new buddy.
