0.8 a lifesaver, but a lot was hindered (bugs?)

might i say that i love adium 0.8. however, i've run into quite a few bugs.

my environment:
Mac OS X 10.4.0, clean install
PowerBook G4 1 GHz, 15"
Airport wireless

1. file transfer. my friend on an eMac with Tiger and Adium 0.8 on the other side of the state tried sending me a file. it said "Accepting file transfer..." then both of ours crashed at the exact same time, hinting to me that this wasnt a random crash, and there is a problem with the file transfer. i wish i could describe the situation more, but thats what happened.

2. the dock icon. it doesnt show it asleep when it signs off, it doesnt show "Away" and "Idle" signs like before (which were an easy way to tell status, i dont like having to click the dock icon or menu bar icon to tell).

3. away messages. this isnt a bug, but it is REALLY annoying having to to find an away message now. i do like the new features of the away messages, but the fact taht its a lot like ichat now is very annoying. but the other 2 are bugs.

Well, 1 sounds a bit suspicious, but as you know file transfer is unreliable at best.

As for 2, for pity's sake search the forums, there are around half a dozen recent threads on this.

wrt 3 - I don't really understand your problem!

How is it more annoying than before? I mean, you're basically dealing with the same interface here, which is a flat listing of away messages within a menu.

In .8, this listing has it's own menu (status) rather than being shoved into a submenu (off of file), which to me seems like it would be less annoying to access.

My problem with this is that "online / offline" status has been rolled into "away, available, idle etc." status. Finding out whether I am online with a particular protocol requires me to go to the status menu - not a problem. The difficulty is that I have to go to a submenu in order to connect / disconnect from a single protocol.

Worse - all the status items other than offline will take me online - but if I don't want to change my away/available status from what it HAD BEEN I have to either remember the last setting and re-select it, or relaunch the entire program (as it remembers for us). What would be a perfect fix for this IMO would be a "connect with last status" option right below "disabled" in the status menu / submenus.

Worse - I was a HUGE fan of the "connect all" / "disconnect all" commands available from Adium's DOCK ICON. My internet connection sporadically drops me from chat clients - this was a very nice convenient method of re-establishing my connection 10 minutes later when my internet came back. One can "almost" do this now with the status menu that the dock icon provides - accept that one must select an away/available status for ALL the connections at once - thus potentially changing your prior status. This is especially problematic if I had been using different away messages / status for each of my protocols.

Again - a simple - global "reconnect with last status" command in this menu would fix my problem.

One more quibble: the "custom status input window" - Pressing Return moves the cursor down a line in the text field - but enter does the SAME THING. In .77 the Enter key would 'accept' the window (emulates pressing OK) rather than moving the cursor down a line - why did this change in .8? I for one preferred the earlier system, as now I HAVE TO CLICK the OK button. WORSE - pressing enter in the title field DOES accept the window - not consistent.

PHEW - hope this is useful. I still REALLY like Adium, but .8's interface changes need just a leeetle bit more polishing IMO.
