I really like Adium but...

Post by prostuff1 »

I have been usinf fire for a while now but have been experimenting with adium. And i have a couple of questions/feature that i would like to see.

First thing first:
In fire there are a couple of checkbox that i really like a lot which is the main reason i have not completely switched.

The first checkbox is one that says "Hide groups with offline buddies." When this is checked the buddie list window shows online the buddies that are on. I REALLY like this feature because it keeps everything nice and neat.

The other checkbox is one that says " allow list to dock to screen edges." Again i like this because it keeps everthing nice and neat.

I want to know if these feature already exist in Adium and if so were can i active them?

And if they do not exist could they be added to the list of requests.

Thanks

we already only show groups with online buddies... i may have missed it since my list has been like this forever, but i dont think thats even an option

Wrong, djbsquared - the contact list and message window will automatically stick to screen edges. It's more subtle than in Fire, but it's there. I promise :)

As for off-line buddies, the view menu has everything you need.

And in the future, people don't like the phrase "I really like [program x] but..."

Thanks for the help jstamos!!!

The stuff in the view menu was exactly what i was looking for!! :)

It was the one that says "show offline contacts" and i needed to have that unchecked. It would be nice if that could be added as a preference instead of under the view options. But that is no big deal.

Thasnk you so very much for the help, and think i have just switched to adium. :)[/img]

that will stay there, we are trying to minimize the amount of prefs that we have, and that one is still pretty logical where it is... sorry i missed that with my suggestions, its been a long day

It does strike me as something that might be better off in prefs though (unless people change it a lot more frequently than I do). Menu clutter vs. prefs clutter I guess.

The view menu isn't really cluttered as is, and I'd much prefer it there so I can quickly toggle offline contacts on and off in case I need to set up an alert or alias or something for somebody who isn't online.

No, it belongs in the view menu where it is.
