Can't see Dot Mac Buddy

Using Adium 0.81, I am logged into my AIM account. I set up a new buddy at my Dot Mac account and logged into that account on another machine, where I also set up a buddy for my AIM account. We can't see 'each other'.

Is that a feature? AIM can't IM with DotMac?

AIM and .Mac are different protocols, I believe. If that is correct, then you won't be able to IM from AIM to .Mac for the same reason you can't IM from Yahoo to MSN.

Sometimes, I've noticed that adding an AIM buddy to an .Mac list, or vice versa, takes a little while. Restart Adium, and wait for the server to catch up.
