well, I feel a little stupid asking, seeing as Ive been using Adium for a long time... but how do I make it so consecutive messages dont "stick" to each other... it really distorts the conversation. the reason I ask is because I remember the option was much more clearly listed in preferences (or maybe Im just crazy) in earlier versions (now using .81), and I just cant find it now.
I checked the forums, to make sure it wasnt asked, and I couldnt find the question anywhere - sorry if I missed it

messages "stick" together because the creator made it that way, if he didnt want it that way theres a little bit o' code you could add to the message view code(im sure someone will be here in a second to post that code)
oh ya and WRONG FORUM
But...

the thing is, I know you could do it before... why was that option taken away - if it was, like you say?
and in case it was, what kind of coding do I have to put in and where? Im not very good with computers...
just to clarify, what I meant by "stuck" together looks something like this:
Aki: Hey
How are you?
Wanna go to a movie?
Bob: Hmm
Depends on when...
those would be 5 seperate messages...
I used to have it set like in MSN, so each message was on its own... tell me there's a way!

This has been brought up about fifty times in the last week.
It was taken away because it was hard to make styles that look good with both consecutive and non-consecutive messages. It is now up to the author of the message view style. If you'd like it to change, bug the author (not of Adium, of the message view style) about it.
Sorry you didn't come up with anything in the search, but I promise its there. Take it away, Locky.
