Looks like server issues. One of my names is doing the same - but the others are connecting fine.

Server issues. My screen names are going varying degrees of nuts, on Adium, iChat and the official AOLIM.

Hold on to your trousers for now :)

Adium deletes buddy list from server.

Yeah, I thought this might be server problems too. Could not load my buddy list from Adium, iChat, I even downloaded AIM and no buddy list there either. So, instead of chalking it up to server issues I tried adding a buddy. Guess what? The buddies I add, display. I called a friend, who uses the same Internet connection I do, on the same subnet, he sees his buddy list fine. This leads me to think that Adium actually went and deleted all of my buddies.

It is now confirmed. I used my PC to log into AIM and I now have only the two buddies I added with iChat a few minutes ago. AWESOME!!!!!! Yep, Adium deleted all buddies from the AIM server.

Do you honestly believe that Adium sent the command to the server to individually delete each and every one of your buddies and groups? AFAIK, there is no option to "delete all buddies" that could have been sent by mistake.

This was an issue way back in the day--like .62 or .63 I think, but it was fixed. I still had all my screen names in Address Book, fortunately. Now I back up my buddy list by exporting it from the official client.

Regardless of what I or anyone believes the fact is this is almost definitely a result of using Adium. It looks like some other angry fella had the same issue [url= http://forums.cocoaforge.com/viewtopic. ... 2924#22924] Now, I would say I am not as angry as this guy, I expect there to be problems when using beta software, so it is my fault for using Adium in the first place. However, I thought the fine developers of this app might want to know there could be a major issue.

To reiterate my beliefs I will explain the exact steps I took.
Dual 2.0Ghz G5
3GB RAM
Tiger
1. I have been using Tiger with iChat for about two and one half weeks.
2. I had about 60 screen names in my buddy list.
3. I use AIM (PC version) at work and iChat at home.
4. Buddy list management is something I handled flawlessly for about seven years now.
5. Yesterday, I installed Adium .81 on my G5.
6. I quit iChat.
7. I started Adium.
8. All setting were at the defaults.
9. I added my AIM account.
10. Adium took what seemed long to log in.
11. The Contact List was not visible.
12. I quit Adium and started iChat and the contact list was no longer visible.
13. I quit iChat and started Adium. Still no contacts.
14. Came to the forums, found the Contact list MIA post, chalked it up to AIM server issues.
15. I gave up and went to sleep.
16. Today I started Adium, no contact list.
17. Called my friend upstairs who is on the same subnet as myself. He has a contact list and is using AIM (PC). He sees me, I don't see him.
18. I quit Adium, started iChat.
19. I added my friend upstairs as a buddy and he shows up in iChat.
20. I decide to view alll offline buddies. Nothing is in my buddy list except the one I added.
21. I quit iChat, start Adium, and there he is.
22. I quit Adium, started AIM on my PC, and the only buddy in the list is the one I added from iChat.
23. I repeated the process one more time to be sure.

The only different thing I have done in the past day is install Adium. I am not the only person that has had this problem. The person who made this post, plus the link to the other at the top of this reply.

I did not see an option to "delete all buddies" either. That is why I am so confused.
:?

Well, it looks like it has resurfaced.

As far as I can tell, the AIM server was having issues, which is probably why you saw no one on your buddylist.

I had this happen myself with .81 (Im a new Mac user) buddylist completely gone. Checked with windows, no buddies to be found.
