Adium 8.1 crashes with custom away

Whenever I try and set a custom away message through either the menu bar or through the preferences window, Adium 8.1 crashes.
I can set previously made custom away messages but I cannot make new ones. This has happened an estimated 47+ times
I'm running OS X 10.2
