About half of my contacts are english speakers, the other half is my danish friends. When I'm chatting with the danes I'm ofcourse writing in danish which results in a whole lot of red underlining - unless I change the wordbook manually and then change is back when I talk to an english-only contact.
The thing is that when I'm chatting, I sometimes type really fast and miss a character or two or perhaps get them misplaced. While this may seem a minor problem, I find is very embarrassing to send a misspelled message and therefore I have the spellcheck activated.
One solution could be to have Adium remember which wordbook I had activated last on each contact, and automatically choose that one when I next open a conversation with that contact. Perhaps it could even go in the contact info window?
Contact-specific dictionary?
I have posted a similar question on the past.
For some reason of loading and unloading libraries this is impossible.
The closest thing possible, is choosing the multilingual dictionary...
I still also back up that request strongly. I have ppl of 4 different languages on my list, and as I'm not fluent in them it would be very nice to see writing errors. (I'm using IM to learn to spell, f0k dA mAss3z TaT Sp311 b4d)

Actually it is very possible. I just wrote a plugin that does it. I don't know if it will be included in adium by default but in the meantime you can download it heretwopeak wrote:For some reason of loading and unloading libraries this is impossible.

Enjoy!
(I tested it on Tiger with adium 0.81 but it should work on panther as well)
