Would it be possible for Adium to signal the apple mail program so that Mail can place a small green dot next to contacts that are online?

I know iChat and Mail somehow make this work, and I was wondering if it was possible for adium to spoof whatever iChat does to make Mail work the same way? I imagine apple may have inserted code in mail that makes this kind of 3rd party integration impossible.

Unfortunately, this isn't currently possible. I filed http://trac.adiumx.com/ticket/122 for future reference.

I've got some rough prototype code that can sort of do this. If all goes well, I'll have it done in the next week. It'd be available separately from Adium, as a Mail.app bundle.

In fact I switched on iChat to get it, but I'd like to go back with Adium...

Anyone can tell us if we could expect to have this feature in a future Adium release ?
