AdiumX 0.81: too processor hungry!

Post by serge »

For some reason, ever since I updated to v. 0.81 I've been noticing a significant chunk of my processor time dedicated to AdiumX. It didn't used to be this way with 0.7x and, since I have a 400MHz G4, the last thing I need is an instant messaging program hogging almost half my processor resources.

Anyone have this problem? Anyone knows if it could be eliminated, somehow? Thanks in advance...

PS. Running MacOS X Panther (10.3.9) on a Sawtooth G4, 400MHz sp, 1.25GB RAM.

Some things that I know tend to be processor intensive are contact list transparency and gradients. You could try taking those out and see if it's any better.

On another note, nice sig :)

Tried eliminating transparency and gradients from my contact list colors... processor is still freaking out. It seems that had absolutely no effect whatsoever. :( Thanks for your suggestions anywho...

Yeah, currently my Adium is using 0% CPU. And is at that level for 95% of the time.

Perhaps you could take a sample of Adium using Activity Monitor while it's using up all of this CPU? Mine also uses 0.00% of the CPU most of the time.

Got it... apparently, the dock icon I had was the culprit, since it was in constant motion. I switched it with a static dock icon and that was that.

Thanks again for your replies, guys.

Yep, that'll do it.

I see we have some Cowboy Bebop fans in here. :)

Shinichiro Watanabe rules. I assume you've all seen Samurai Champloo as well? Excellent stuff.

(PS sorry for the thread hijack!)

Posting in a 6 day old thread to say something utterly offtopic? Nuh-uh.
