Could not send the last message because it was too large

Adium .81, OSX 10.3.9

Whenever I try to paste a reasonable URL like this:

http://www.dreamsnake.net/ids/index.cgi ... 230183.JPG

in an AIM group chat, I get the above error. Other people using different clients, including Adium on MS-OS, are able to post the same URL just fine. I also get this if I try to send a message longer than maybe 100 chars, though others can do so just fine, and it works in Fire.

Any thoughts?

WTF are these forums for then? Any other gratuitous hoops I have to jump through?

So the point of these forums are for just general discussion. You have reported a well known bug though.

Had you read the stickied thread at the top of the forums, you would have noticed where to report your bugs:

http://forums.cocoaforge.com/viewtopic.php?t=3061

Please understand, if you report bugs here we lose them. The forums are not a proper bug tracking system.

cthulhu11 is there anything in this process which we could change to be more clear as to where to report bugs?

If the email submission from the Help menu is appropriate, that's plenty.

I asked in the forum first because I wanted to find out if it were actually a bug before I reported it as one, instead of bothering the developers with something that might have turned out to be a Stupid User Trick. I searched the forums for the error message and found not a single match, so I had no way of knowing that this is a well-known bug. Given that .81 just came out and still has the behavior, it seemed likely to me that there was something I was missing. Being told within minutes of posting on the forum that I shouldn't be discussing it there, then having the thread closed seemed rather abrupt.

From your searching, did you not see the stickied thread I linked to above?

My search did not show that thread as matching the error message.

But you didn't think to look at the sticky thread?

Why would I look somewhat that the site had clearly indicated to me wasn't relevant? The topic "Organizing Adium information" also hardly could be construed to have the answer.

To be fair, "Organising Adium information" is a bit nondescript. Maybe something like "Bug reports and enhancements guidelines" would be better?

But the difference is that it is sticky. Forum etiquite for most forums dictates that you should read sticky threads first.
