Post by lwellshome »

I was wondering if could get some help. When I am in a chat session, the window will not scroll. I do not see any preference item to adjust for this.

Please help , thanks

What message style are you using, and does this happen with one of the built in styles?

I do not even know what the default message syles are. Do you think this would correct the scrolling problem? I am using smooth scrolling in Tiger 10.4.1.

Thanks

Well tell us what message style you are using that doesn't work first. Built in styles include Eclipse, Mockie and Plastic. They should all work fine without any stupid smooth scrolling. It's probably because you're using an old style that hasn't had it's smooth scrolling updated to be in line with Tiger (or 10.3.9)

If you want to particulaly keep using the message style you have at the moment I can tell you how to remove the smooth scrolling so it just acts normally.

Go to ~/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0/Message Styles/ (where ~ is the name of your home folder/ login name)

Then command click on the style you are using and select show package contents. Go to the resources folder inside the contents folder and open "Footer.html" in TextEdit, delete everything and save the file. Then relaunch Adium.

One thing about the Footer.html comment: it's sometimes template.html instead (like ProtoScroll)

I tried both, the footer.html and the template.html files. The template.html file had something in it and I deleted it. The message style was called Milk Mocke. I just am using Smooth Operator that seems to work fine now. Thanks for all your help.

Milk Mockie was one of those message styles that broke with 10.3.9.

I think there is a newer version that fixes that, but adiumxtras.com is down…

So… why not? Too slow? No updates/fixes?

Because we get people who use old views/styles/themes for a very long time, and then think it is a problem Adium has caused, and not a problem caused by a hack.
