Help--Spinning beachball in .81

Ever since upgrading to Adium v0.81, the reliability of the program has been haphazard to say the least. It's actually a rare occasion when it will actually work correctly. Once I log in, and my buddy list comes up, it will only be a second before the cursor becomes a spinning beachball indefinitely, and I can no longer do anything but Force Quit. Please help!

I think this might be similar to what I had.

it might be something with growl... do you have alerts when you connect?
