smileys in names weirdness

Post by twopeak »

I find it quite weird that the smileys (and other) don't get shown in names.
In a certrain point of view I can understand the decision not to show it in the contact list, but in the message window would be nice in my opinion.

The thing is that in status messages (close window, change status or whatever) suddenly the smileys will be shown, not only in the name but in the whole status messages.
This gives some weirdness in some localisations.
In french the way to say "away" is "absent" and there is a feminine form that requires it to end with an "e"
In the localisations they abbreviate this by writing (e) behind the word.
(e) = enveloppe in msn!

I think this behaviour should be changed.
Either you show smileys; either you don't. but not half half...

Yup, I concur-see my comment on an ahem, existing trac ticket on this issue: http://trac.adiumx.com/ticket/186 :D

Why not have it done the easy.. A sex change for your 'girl'friend :P
Or make them go for: Je ne suis pas là :)

hehehe, it would make them less charming ;)

I was in fact talking about the
"nom_ou_nimportequoi est déconecté(e)"
and then the (e) becomes an enveloppe... it shouldn't be like that

Michael, I had read your trac ticket when you filed it and went to run for cover when the devs were going to shoot you ;-)
I'll be adding my comment there too

We have talked a lot about that on the french forum.

A good solution, for the moment, is to disable the "(e)" in the emoticon prefs.

Will be changed soon.

It's changed for [e] now.

If you want to give your opinion about that, we are making a poll on the frecnh forum:
