http:// added to domain names

I need to be able to send many messages to ICQ users on Windows systems. I have found that when I use any domain name in my Adium messages they are prepended with http:// at the recipients ICQ. Does anyone know if there is a way for me at my end to stop the adding of the http://? Thanks.
