Emoticons

Post by msnuser »

I have friends that try to send me emoticons for msn messenger which I cannot see. I get text like gibberish.. Is this supported in any way on a client for os x or linux?

Does anyone know more about this?

Thanks again..

Adium doesn't do this, it might come eventually if implemented in libgaim, otherwise you can use aMsn, but that kinda sucks :P

if you get text like giberish, it's really an emoticon.
If you can get the image in some way, you can make an emoticon pack, and use that.
As soon as you find these images on the web or wherever, post again, and you might find someone to do it for you.

The nudges, handwriting and other bandwith-abuse can not be used by Adium and as far as I know the devs, they have negative feelings towards the ideas so even if libgaim implements it, they might not implement it...

You can try an MSN-specific emoticon pack.. that should help. I'm using msn-animated and it seems to have pretty much most of the weird emoticons that MSN has.
