adiumscript writing

Post by Tenshi »

Hello,
I was interested in knowing how hard it is to start writing adiumscripts. There are a few I wish I could kinda hack into to customize, and maybe if I get really zealous I'll write a full one of my own. Can anyone point me towards a good place to start? I can't just open them with the applescript editor can I? I've never written any of them either, but I was hoping that I could just open the scripts and look at their code, but apparently, it's not that straight forward...? I have a pretty good C/C++ background, with some basic assembly background also. This would be my first mainstream project I've looked into though (meaning, the first big thing outside of a classroom). Please don't get angry or frustrated if I ask something dumb.

Thanks,
Tenshi

Do “Show Package Contents” on the .AdiumScripts package and navigate to Contents/Resources. Open the .scpt file there in Script Editor and look for yourself.

zaudragon,
Thanks, this should be enough for me to at least start messing around with things. If i need technical help, is this the best forum to post things on? Is there a developer's forum for things like adiumscripts? Do I need to compile/recompile them? Don't want to mess anything up too badly.

Ask here, or the IRC channel. Compiling is possible within Script Editor by pressing the button or the enter key (not return).
