How to set logs to be Plain Text?

The previous version of Adium that I had had an option in Preferences to "Save Logs as Plain Text". I don't see this any longer. Now, logs are saved as ".html" files as opposed to ".AdiumLog" files. Is there a way to set them to be plain text again?

No. This was removed.

That sucks.
Why was the feature where you could right-click on someone's screen name in the contact list and choose View Logs removed?

It wasn't. View Previous Conversations = Logs.

I'm not sure if you are trying to insult or congratulate him on being correct...

Ummmm...hardly an insult.

I don't really thing congratulations are in order either though. I meant just what I said. Thanks for the responses. They were very brief. ::shrugs::

Why was text logging removed? I thought it would be infinitely more sensible to remove HTML logging, which is extremely bloated for message logging... It makes the file four times bigger just to add colour.
I'd REALLY like to see text logging come back; I don't see why they removed something that worked perfectly fine!

Text logs are impossible to parse.

Adium's "HTML" logging does not store color information.

... I still don't see what was wrong with just displaying plain text. It would certainly make searching much faster and reading in BBEdit much easier.

For the record, if you need "plain text" to copy and paste to an IM or something, you can just use the Log Viewer and copy the text there.

Alternative logging formats are being discussed, but the return of plaintext isn't going to happen, as it doesn't really meet the requirements (see
http://trac.adiumx.com/wiki/LogFormatIdeas )

Er, I can see the advantages of HTML logging, but why not at least give the users the option of choosing text logging? I'm sure some of us just want plain logs that we can search and read quickly with BBEdit.

Because its not easy to incorporate the file format given all of Adium's features (with plain-text logging, the message history will always be separate from the logs, the log viewer won't look as good, etc.)
It's really not much harder to drag your file to Safari instead of BBEdit.

I don't doubt it, but that's not an option we're willing to offer at this time. Can't win em all

What advantage does it give us to have text logging?

Sometimes it truly is best not to upgrade.

Berry,
Like I said, you can always just use an older version of the software. In a way, I feel like some of the .7x versions offer more customization options than the newer versions.
