Was this in Imageready or Photoshop that you speak of? Because when I open the gif in Photoshop it only wants to show 1 frame. And in Imageready, it's a @#$^& to get it to save it as a gif and not a psd.

NOTE: The gif Im trying to edit would be the one you see to your left :D

You won't be able to open it in PS and see all the frames. You're going to have to open it in Imageready. Once there, you need to select "Save Optimized as" instead of just saving to get that pretty little .gif you're wanting. You should probably also save it as a Photoshop file, too. Otherwise, if you decide to edit it in the future, you can edit the photoshop file. Once you save it as a .gif, it's gonna flatten the layers and make it a pain to edit.

The GNU Image Manipulation Program should do the job, although it's powerful stuff so can take its toll on slower machines. I would really just recommend buying a copy of Photoshop Elements really though, about £30 here in Britain and you might be able to download a demo or get one with macworld, if you read it.

You don't need to flatten it. When you save as a .gif, .jpeg, etc. it automatically flattens that file type. I wouldn't recommend flattening any photoshop file anyway because what if you wanted to change something later on? Trust me, layers are your friend.

You could also select "Save for Web...", but that's only in photoshop and it's only for single-framed web graphics.

Actually, only the last frame is smaller than the rest(and has his feet cut off).

It only took me a moment to fix it for you, so see if this file works for you.

I got it to 48x48, with a white background and I tested it in Camino, and it all works fine! However, I'm still being told that it doesn't run as a buddy icon :(

it's quite easy if you have fireworks MX, that's better for working with and saving .gifs than imageready.

If you've got a 48x48 animated gif that doesn't animate on AIM when dragged into the account sheet, give us the gif and we'll look into it.

Yes as soon as I figure this out :)

And Adam, the gif I'm trying to edit is my avatar which you see to the left

Many thanks!

That image is 42x47. It WILL NOT WORK unless it is between 48x48 and 50x50.

Show us the 48x48 animated gif that, when dragged onto the image well on the account sheet, does not work. Failing presentation of such an image I can assure you the issue, if one exists, will never be resolved.

If nobody has such an image I'm going to lock this thread.
