Search the forum. Or even better, search
trac.

Here's a useful result.

Here's an even more useful result.

It usually helps to try more than one search, and to not search for things that are going to give tons of results, like "contact list" or "buddies".

wow this is a scary bug and one that many people seem to be having

, however I now notice the latest release is 0.82 while most people claimed it was occuring in 0.81 and it was said in one of the tickets the issue was unverifiable, but yet I also notice this has not been listed as one of the fixes for 0.82...does this mean that it's just a claim and hasn't actually been able to be verified by one of the developers? is this error still common in 0.82? I was thinking of using 0.82 for my multinetwork chatting needs and maybe even contributing to the project but now I'm beginning to have second thoughts as this is a serious issue IMO...

No it's not been confirmed as such as it's seems nigh on impossible to reproduce, on a side note there are about 40,000 downloads of Adium 0.8 floating about or something ridiculous and this has happened only once or twice, so seems quite rare. Also, the devs feel this may not be
entirely Adium's fault as in the first instance (in the trac ticket) it happened during a time when AIM's servers where knowingly playing up.
To parent poster: To recover you buddies use the buddy list recoverer program evands wrote which will write your buddy list to the standard AIM format (you might lose groups though) and then open that file with the official client.
http://evands.penguinmilitia.net/Adium- ... Export.zip Again I think this app should be mentioned on trac somewhere so there is a emergency backup solution available on the wiki..

ah alright, thanks for the reply

, I'll give Adium a try as it seems like the best multi-protocol IM client for MacOS X, keep up the great work guys!

195,000 downloads of Adium 0.81 before Adium 0.82 was released.

, and a damned well deserved number too, Adium is by far the best open source app for Mac OS X..close to being my favourite app in any sense actuallly.

Being a DDR freak, I have StepMania at the top of open source apps for Mac, but Adium is right up there with it.
