While chatting I've been told that some sentences are not being shown on my chat box !!
This was while chatting with another user who used Yahoo IM.
This was not the case with 0.8.1 !! I'm using Mac OS X 10.4...

The person whom I was chatting with replied with a one liner but I didn't see anything. Afterwards during a normal telephone conversation he told me that he had typed an answer to a question I posted
Can I re-download 0.8.1 somewhere ?

Is it possible that the person with whom you were chatting was using a font color which you couldn't view on your screen? I have had that problem sometimes, and changed my preferences so that all incoming messages would appear as black font, as a result.

Good point MacMom; two questions here. First, did you see any indication that they had IMed you (such as their name, followed by blank space?), or did you just not receive the IM at all? Also, check your logs (actual logs, not message history); sometimes messages can be received and logged but won't show up in the message window. Second, how many times has this happened? If it just happened once, it could've been anything; maybe one of your Internet connections died for a second, right when your friend was sending the message (this is not very likely if you're both on dial-up).

We're both using cable modems. I believe this morning I had a similar problem during a chat session, but it's hard to know if a person doesn't answer anymore because he doesn't get my replies !
This is what my adium log shows :
17:08:10 xxxxxxx: zit je in Brussel ?
17:08:15 yyyyyyy: ja
17:08:19 yyyyyyy: en jij ?
17:16:04 xxxxxxx: ?
17:16:14 yyyyyyy: hallo
The response from 17:08:15 en 17:08:19 was not received by the YIM application. He then replied at 17:16:04 wondering what happened...

That's happened to me on occasion; my cable Internet will get wacky, and my sent IMs won't actually be sent to the person. Usually if I'm ever suspicious that there's something up with my Internet, I'll send an IM to myself. If I get a reply back, then the Internet is fine (since it has to go through the AIM server; I assume it's the same for Yahoo!). If I see only my outgoing message and don't get an identical reply back, then something's up.
