Are buddy icons supposed to work with Sametime? I have "Use Address Book images as contacts' icons" checked and I have tried it with "Even if the contact already has a contact icon" also.

How would you associate an address book card with a Sametime contact name?

Couldn't you do it by name? I guess I don't really know how it works now because I haven't been able to get it to work.

There is no field in the Address Book for sametime, unlike MSN, AIM, etc. Until Apple implements this, it's not possible.

Too bad we can't just set an option in the Prefs for to use the Jabber field for Sametime or something.

Or we could just wait for Apple and not include unnecessary options

Maybe I'm pessimistic but I don't see Apple adding that.

Me neither. But really, a preference isn't the solution.

There's no standard way names show up, though, across servers... is Adium getting a first initial and last name? First and last name? First middle initial last? Some internal ID comprising letters of the first and last names? LDAP string containing your organization along with your name in any of the above forms?

Ok, is there some other way to set a buddy icon even if the service doesn't support it then?

Get info on the contact and drop a picture onto the image well in the top left, I believe.

Ok, that worked for the buddy list - but shouldn't the picture also show up in the chat window itself?

Yes. There's a current problem in .82 where it hangs on to buddy icons a bit more than it should, so just hold out for a bit and see if your problem gets fixed by the next .8x release

Yeah, or double click it to pull up the Image Picker (which also has camera support)
