hi, i have a weird problem.. i have two computers that i keep on all the time, and both with an aim client each running different screen names (gaim on the pc and adium on the powerbook). when i sign on the pc it puts my name into a metacontact category with my powerbook screen name.. even though i didn't ever tell it to. and when i delete it out of the metacontact and put it into my group, entitled "me" it simply reverts back and forms the metacontact once more. how do i get around this?? it is so strange.

My guess is that you've got both your names listed on your Me card in the Address Book, so this is expected behavior. If you don't want them to be treated as the same person, remove one. If this isn't the situation, there's something odd at work.

not in address book

thats the first thing i thought, but that other screen name isn't in my address book..
i even can delete the second screen name, form a totally new group, add the screen name once more TO that group, and it ignores this new group and just forms a meta under the "me" group with my powerbook screen name. don't get it.

The names don't necessarily need to be listed on your me card... names on the same individual of any card in your address book will force into a meta-contact like that in my experience.
