logs in default folder

hi.

i read in a previous thread that logs in adium save automatically when set to do so in preferences. i had version .81 was it? just upgraded to .82 today. i am using OSX version 10.3.9 - earlier today (before upgrading) i had a conversation with someone and the log seems to have disappeared. i emailed support and got a response from evan to look in the default folder here: ~/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0/Users/Default/Logs/ - when i look in this folder there seems to be a cached "adium document" of what looks like that conversation. i cannot open it though and there is no log of the conversation in the "log viewer" section in the application.

my questions are these: 1) how can i open the cached file to see if it is indeed that conversation? (when i try i get an error message) 2) if the conversation logged automatically why is it not in the viewer with the other logs from today? 3) is there something i might be doing that would have interferred with the conversation being logged properly? 4) has anyone else experienced disappearing logs?

thanks for any help

ahhh - this might help - when i try and open the cached file an adium window opens that reads "Installation failed - an error occured while installing the X(tra)."

same error i got with the older version. no idea what this means.

it *should* be an HTML file that you can open in Safari.

it's just listed as an "adium document" the name of which is the persons msn account - not an html document.

Did you try dropping it on the icon of Safari? It should be an HTML file.

You should also be able to see it in the log viewer. Try cleaning out the files in ~/Library/Caches/Adium and let it re-index your files. (Note: deleting the whole folder will delete saved buddy icons as well)
