I use my PowerBook both at home and at work; at work, I connect to a Lotus Sametime server with Meanwhile, but at home I don't have the Sametime server. Getting Sametime errors everytime I open/close my PowerBook at home is annoying. Is there any way via AppleScript or some other means to make Adium location-aware, so that it wouldn't try to connect to the Sametime account while at home? Possible triggers could be different IPs or different WiFi SSIDs.

As a different, less desirable alternative, is it possible to just supress connection error messages for the Sametime account?

(An obvious alternative is to just manually connect to the Sametime account...this would be even easier if Adium allowed account connect-disconnect to be tied to a Hotkey, e.g. Cmd-1,2,3 for different accounts.)

Use the Keyboard Preference Pane in System Preferences to connect your accounts. Very easy…

cmd+# are reserved for tab switching.

Otherwise, you can try zaudragons suggestion, or just sign off of sametime while at work so you don't have to deal with it at home.

I personally have a process for going home. I make sure all the issues for the day are resolved or being worked on, and then check my email and my team's email one more time. Then I sign off my accounts, and then I make sure there are no final issues to tend to. Might be good to modify your personal habits a tad, I found this actually helped a lot once I got into the habit of it. Just a thought

haha.. um.. is it possible to set keybard shortcuts for changing statuses? i'm thinking along the lines of problems with multiple menu entries with the same names ("Away", "On the Phone", "Available", etc)

You can try… theoretically, it should work.

Couldn't an applescript be used, one that starts adium and changes the screen name?

Anyway.. tried keyboard shortcuts on Adium.. i set Away to be opt-cmd-A, just as a test, (wondered y nothing happened), then rebooted Adium (doh!), and found that the shortcut only worked for the one under the Status menu, not the individual ones under the account submenus.. any idea if u can get it to work for the account submenus too? or any other submenus?

I don't mind the main Away being opt-cmd-a, but just wondering if u can get osx to differentiate between menu commands with the same name

edit: woo.. timeout.. just tried using the shortcut.. it comes up with a custom away dialog box, with the away status preset prefilled, and click OK to go away.. that in itself is a lil weird.. but then i realised.. the Away shortcut is now under one of the account submenus.. and the one under the main Status menu is gone... any ideas?

Anyway, zaudragon is the proper spelling, not Zaudragon. /Volumes/Names is case-sensitive HFS+.

if HFS+ is case sensitive then how come the apache webserver doesn't differentiate between it? software compatibility?

HFS+ is not case sensitive. Case Sensitive HFS+ is case sensitive.

The proper would be "misspelled", "misspelt" is used with a noun in passtense; ie. "The town's name was misspelt till recently"


Second, it was not misspelled, it was only improper casing, two distinctly different errors.

Really? I had an annoying second-grade English teacher that made us say “Capital R - y - a - n” when spelling. And she marked you wrong for “r - y - a - n”.
