iChadium skin background

Hi,

I am using the iChadium skin (I want my Adium to look as much like iChat as possible).

I can change the background color of incoming message bubbles but not my own. I tried changing my text background color but all it did was change give my text a background color to those i was sending it to and did not make my bubble color change.

Anyone know how to fix this? I'm having many issues with the colors right now. Thanks!

Second time in a week.

Would lock this thread, but not a mod in this forum…

The author of both iChadium and iChat clone didn’t bother to programme this. I should fix that sometime, eh?

ya i can't even get the random part to work...
although zaudragon and son son of a preacher man helped me snazz it up a bit by adding the trans black header...
would love a fix to this too!

I have no recollection of that incident.

OK Back to iChadium:

The author did add support for text backgrounds. But he left the variants. If you duplicate an existing variant, and delete its contents except for the @import line, it should work.

Have you tried Metal Adium?

I'm sorry, I don't know what that means... how do you do it? (apologize, not familiar yet with the terms!)

1. Make a new document in TextEdit.
2. Press command+shift+T to make it a Plain Text file.
3. Do “Show Package Contents” on iChadium.AdiumMessageStyle
4. Navigate to Contents -> Resources -> Variants.
5. Open any of them in TextEdit.
6. Copy the first line that starts with “@import” into the Untitled document made in step 1.
7. Save the Untitled Document, and name it anything you want, except with a “.css” suffix.
8. Move the saved document to iChadium.AdiumMessageStyle -> Contents -> Resources -> Variants
9. Restart Adium.
10. Go to the Messages preferences and select the new variant.

That *should* work in theory.

That didn't do anything for me.

I tried doing a variant where I used an RGB value for the msgIn and msgOut background colors. While the outgoing color would always be what I specified, the incoming color would be random. I suspect this has something to do with the Incoming Shuffle thing but I can't figure it out.

Update: I think opening the Info.plist and changing AllowTextColors to No seems to have fixed this? Sorry I am new to messing with message styles.

I've got a mod of iChadium ready that does not use the font panel to set the bubble background. It uses variants with pre-defined bubble colors for both the incoming and outgoing bubbles. I think this is how some folks are wanting this message style to work (including myself).

I'm just waiting for permission from the author before I share the mod on the forum. I could also post it to Xtras if he is okay with that.

Just wanted to post and tell anyone who was interested in the mod I did that I haven't heard anything from the author. So.... yeah.
