Can't connect

I'm trying to log into my gmail account on Adium but all I get is this message:
dgadghkdgl@gmail.com (MSN) : Gaim Error
Failed to Connect to sever
Does anyone know what's wrong?

I don't think that wiki link is related.
Can you connect with the official client? Are you behind a firewall or proxy server?

The confusion there was because threebyseven said he was logging onto his Gmail account, but really it's his MSN account, which just happens to have his Gmail address as his MSN user ID, and isn't related to Gmail at all.
