A request about the "Send Later" option

Hi all,
first, thanks for making this great app. I'm Italian, so I'm sorry for my english.
I'd like to make a request about the "Send Later" option.
When I put a message in the "Send Later", Adium will send it when the buddy connects and not when he's already on-line.
I mean, if I connect and the buddy is already on-line, Adium doesn't send the message.
So, can you make an event like "Is on-line" or "As soon as he's on-line" beyond "Connects"?
I hope I was clear

Thanks,
Vinxo

This has been requested before, and I think it's a good idea, personally.
If a person tells Adium to "send later" then they almost always want the message to be sent next time they see that person -- even if that person is already online when you sign on.

In fact, I can't think of a reason you WOULDN'T want to send a message with Send Later in that circumstance (you see someone online when you come online).
Is this related to way the "Signed On" event is checked for? Should the entire event be changed to check for "online when you sign on" as well? Or just for this plugin? If you had a sound you wanted played when person X signs on, it might be a little annoying to have it play when you connect. Perhaps a new event is needed? Evan, you wrote most of the Contact Alerts stuff, what do you think?

Thanks for your reply.
I think you should change the event "Connects" with something like "Next time Adium sees the contact online".

in addition to this a list of pending messages waiting to be sent to other users would be nice. this way you can delete messages that don't have to be sent anymore.
maybe even have a request of adium to if you want to sent the pending messages once you log on (with a possiblity to discard or change them??)

You can see pending messages which will be sent in a contact's Get Info window under Alerts.

a general place would be easier, since i don't remember who i sent offline messages too. it's something i really miss from ICQ
i can live without it, but it would be nice though....

Once the centralized alerts controller makes its return (it's in svn right now), you'll be able to view all events you've set up from there.

That's not how it works. Have you played with it? It's for global events, not for all events.

I can see my sent offline messages there but the receiver (iChat with AIM or .mac-account) never receives them. Any ideas why?
Of course, ICQ-users always gets their offline messages but that is expected since ICQ Sucks Less (TM) compared to all other closed source IM-systems when it comes to the core functionality of IM:ing, sending short text messages.
