maximum number of contacts in buddy list?

Hi, I'm a new Adium user and think that the software is great. I currently have contacts on buddylists for two AIM screennames. I'd like to combine all the contacts in one buddylist associated with one screenname. I'm very happy with how easy it is to move contacts between screenames in Adium, unlike the mess in the official AIM client. However, I am worried because I have more than 200 contacts between the two lists and I know that the official AIM client has a 200 contact maximum per screenname.
I was wondering if there is a similar maximum in Adium, either overall or for individual services (e.g. AIM, ICQ, Yahoo)?
If there is no such maximum in Adium, will there be problems if I added more than 200 contacts to my AIM buddy list and then logged in to the screenname using an official AIM client? e.g. Would the "excess" names then be removed from the buddy list?
If, in their answer to this question, someone could also briefly explain how the buddy lists are stored (on AIM's server? locally?) and how the lists are synced, that would be highly illuminating and greatly appreciated.
BTW: I tried searching trac and the forum first, but wasn't able to find an answer to this question.
