Making one big contact list?

Hi!

I'm very new to Adium and to this forum. Please bear with me (or redirect me) if this question is old and there are answers out there...

After installing Adium, I noticed that my contacts were automatically put into generic groups (others, individuals, general). Is there a way of grouping all my contacts together into one group (besides changing my group view under the View option)? how did these generic headings come to be?

Thanks!

All you need to do is grab the contacts and drop them where you want. The "generic" list names came from your IM clients.

Dumb question....how do i "grab" the contacts? clicking and dragging doesn't seem to work?

Is there a way of transferring a group of contacts into another list without having to add them individually?

Hello,

you have to select all the contacts you want to by pressing uppercase, then hold down command key and drag them.

Is it OK?

If you want one big contact list, deselect "Show Groups" in the view menu.

To move contacts: http://trac.adiumx.com/wiki/ManagingContacts
To move a contact to a new group, simply drag it. If you have a "borderless" contact list, you'll need to hold down command in order to initiate the drag.
