when i switched over to adium i seemed to be missing have of my contact list. im not sure whats going on. when i used msn i had like 137 contacts now with adium on the same account i have 5. does it change according to if they are offline or something... im a noob.

btw: im using osx, if that matters

try View -> show offline contacts

(shift-apple-H)

Maybe you're used to seeing offline contacts on the list, see if they appear when you do that.

Well of course you're using OS X if you're running adium. Unless you meant 10.4, as opposed to 10.3....

Its obvious to us, but i can see a new user being confused easily. I hear questions all the time like "does the ibook come with os X?" as if os x is a new thing... people just see all the boxes with X's on them and figure that whatever the newest one is in the first os x, i think. =\
