Hello,
How can I make a backup of my Adium Log (and hopefully be able to import it later)
I am upgrading to Tiger and I want to do a clean install.

[Update]
Actually, I did find where the logs are stored, but when I try to cp -R to my external harddisk, it fails because the "filename contains illegal characters"

Do you have any quick solution for this?
Maybe a quick Unix command to do it?

Thank you!

Put the filename in quotes:

Code: Select all

cp -R "~/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0/Users/Default/Logs/AIM.zaudragon/resimada/resimada (2005|08|02).html"

No reason to use the terminal. Just drag the whole Adium 2.0 folder to your external HD from Finder.

In a couple of days I need to reinstall my mac, so I've started to do some bakcup of my documents including my history from Adium.

Unfortuanlty I get's a lot of errors when I'm trying to backup Adium using either Finder or my sync program (Synk), I get errors like this (from Synk log):

2005-09-22 17:13:55: Error: Couldn't create
/Volumes/SWOOP-1/Application Support/Adium 2.0/Users/Default/Logs/ICQ.2849239/1111111/1111111 (2005|05|23).html

2005-09-22 17:13:55: Warning: Could not copy original attributes to new item
/Users/swoop/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0/Users/Default/Logs/ICQ.2849239/1111111/1111111(2005|05|23).html

/Volumes/SWOOP-1/Application Support/Adium 2.0/Users/Default/Logs/ICQ.2849239/1111111/1111111 (2005|05|23).html

The backup drive is at my Windows server. If I'm reading the documentation (http://trac.adiumx.com/wiki/MessageHistory) or searching this forum they all says that I only needs to copy my log folder.

So why all these errors?

Thanks in advance
Allan
