what is the latest version of adium that will work with os 10.1.5 and where can I find it?

I was using adium 1.6.5 for the past two years at least and then the other day it stopped connecting to aim . anyone know why?

It should still work… TOC will never be dropped from AIM.

I've been using Adium 1.6.2c and can confirm that it stopped working last Thursday, August 18. I tried several different servers and ports, but it won't connect now. It tries indefinitely with a message like "Connecting to toc.oscar.aol.com 9898"

yep thats exactly what i have. this sucks. i loved adium and use it for years.

On what basis can you make a claim like this? Does AOL even have a client that uses TOC at this point?

yeah, because shelling out over $100 for a minor update to an operating system just so I can run a program I've always been using for years makes so much sense.

I can easily see this turning into an argument about why or why not the non-incremental releases of OS X are just as major as the upgrades from OS 7 to 8 to 9, only using a different numbering scheme, but that's not what the thread's about. I think the bottom line is that there is something in AIM's protocol that was dropped recently that has caused the old version of Adium to break, and the current version does not run on Puma.

(and Panther is available on eBay for $30 or less)

It's not 100 dollars, and it's not a minor upgrade. And you're the one asking for help, and the only way we can help you now is if you upgrade your os x or install a newer version.

10.1 is a very old operating system, so much that it's not possible for the current release of Adium to support it. There are huge chunks of code that the current release of Adium relies on that need at least 10.2 (for they aren't in earlier releases, or function very differently). Adium .9 won't even support 10.2. So calling 10.1 to 10.2, or 10.1 to 10.4 a minor upgrade is fairly silly in terms of the massive architectural changes that occur between OS X updates.

That said, Adium 1.x support was dropped a long time ago, and if its stopped working, it's stopped working. It was replace with the current version of Adium for a reason.

I'm sorry that it's stopped working, and I'm sorry you're still on 10.1 without the monetary resources to get away from it, but there's nothing we can do.

Yes. The Web Client.

Are you sure? Have you researched the web client lately?
